McConnell Property can draw on the practical experience and knowledge of a project team that has worked across Australasia and internationally.

We have widespread experience working with a variety of partners and partnership structures in New Zealand, including central and local government agencies, landowners, agents, financiers and the property industry. As a developer we work with our own balance sheet on our projects.

This point of difference gives us experience and understanding of the disciplines needed to manage risk.

  • Kawarau Falls Station

    • Kawarau Falls Station, Queenstown
    • Bank of Scotland International have appointed KordaMentha as receivers with McConnell Property acting as development manager for the completion of Stage 1
    • Kawarau Falls Station is intended to create the country’s greatest example of alpine living, incorporating internationally branded hotels, luxury waterfront lodge and serviced apartments. Unprecedented selections of dining, health and wellness retreats, and leisure activities are planned.
  • Point Ridge

    Point Ridge

    • Point Ridge, Albany Heights, Auckland
    • Currently there are 97 homes completed with a further 136 planned for the remaining stages. From 2009 McConnell Property has been appointed Development Manager to complete the remaining stages of Point Ridge. The architecture is inspired by Italy’s century old hillside towns
    • Set over 5ha of landscaped garden overlooking Albany
    • Point Ridge uses solid masonry construction
    • Features a hotel style swimming pool, community recreation room, tropical style grounds, a spa pool, gymnasium, community pavilion, BBQ areas and convenience store
    • A full time on-site manager to look after rentals, repairs, grounds and facilities

  • Highbrook Business Park

    Highbrook master plan

    • East Tamaki, Auckland
    • Between 1998 and 2003, McConnell Property as development and investment manager for the owner Highbrook Development Ltd (HDL), was responsible for the consenting and master planning
    • The McConnell Property team led the initiative that saw some 192ha of equine and pastoral land, transform in value to a fully consented commercial property
    • In recognition of the quality of the research, master planning and approval process, McConnell Property and its design team were awarded the Analysis and Planning Honour Award by the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2003
    • The close working relationship between McConnell Property and Manukau City Council enabled the creation of a crater park and esplanade reserve in exchange for reduced contribution levies.
    • Highbrook went on to win the Supreme Award at Property Council New Zealand Property Industry Awards 2011

    • McLennan is a 24 ha site, 450 homes, a new school and other child-focused amenities located next to open parkland
    • McConnell Property worked with Housing New Zealand to design a master planned development, modern urban community that is safe, inclusive and friendly, with a distinctive identity reflecting its residents, history and green surrounds.
    • The master planning process was completed in 2007, with resource consent for the development achieved during 2009.
    • Seven out of ten McLennan properties will be occupied by home owners and first home buyers mixed with investor properties..

Governance

  • Our projects operate within a Development Control Group (DCG) structure which establishes management and reporting protocols.

    This enables each partner to meet and review strategic issues and receive regular reports as to the progress and status of the development.

    Each of the key disciplines is headed by an experienced team member, with specialist responsibilities falling to consultants drawn from a worldwide base to ensure the best outcome is achieved.

    The team is also supported by the wider McConnell Group resources as required.
