David has been Managing Director of McConnell Group since 1995.  He has a background in business development, specialising in property, construction and infrastructure, and provides key direction and leadership to the Group’s business activities.  

David has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from Canterbury University and an MBA from Northwestern University, Chicago..

David has recently been appointed Chair of Tourism, Events and Economic Development, one of the newly established CCO’s for Auckland City.  He is a Director of the Committee for Auckland and is a Chairman of the University of Auckland’s Business School Advisory Board.  He is a past Board member of Mighty River Power and past Deputy Chair of Telstra Clear Events Centre.

In 2006 David received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award and in 2008 was a recipient of the prestigious Eisenhower fellowship..
