After serving nine years as a British naval officer, Martin joined the property industry in 1979 as a planning engineer and project manager. In development, operations and management director roles over the last 27 years Martin has worked across all property sectors in Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. His previous roles have seen him grow property development and investment businesses based on strong principles of planning and structuring, supported by an inclusive and open management style.
As one of the founding members of an offshore private equity fund, Martin managed a worldwide portfolio of investment and development properties valued at US$5 billion, with activities spanning the commercial, hotel, retail, healthcare, retirement, industrial and infrastructure sectors. With Martin as managing director / CEO of the fund’s special purpose vehicles, developments included a 100,000sqm office building in Central London, a 250,000sqm office, hotel and retail multi-mixed use building in Manhattan, and a university campus in the Middle East. The fund’s activities also included developing master planned industrial parks in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Through partnering with government bodies, the fund also developed the master plan for airports and surrounding industrial parks across those jurisdictions, and undertook larger PFI and PPP infrastructure projects. Partnerships with local developers and land and asset owners was based on adding capital value to existing real estate assets, and particularly in central city locations. As COO with McConnell Property, Martin’s focus is as a business strategist overseeing the delivery and performance of projects. martin.daniels@mcconnellproperty.co.nz |
